The first thing we will do this winter is call a meeting of everyone who is interested. We will discuss ideas there and make a plan.
But to inspire you here are some possibilities.
We could build it on the high street, so that people can see it happening and we can generate interest in the river Nith. There are already rowing clubs above the caul (if you are interested find them here, and here,
Scottish Coastal Rowing have many groups around Scotland and internationally where Ayles skiffs are built and rowed. The closest to Dumfries is in Annan.
The chances are that you are filling this in having seen rowing on the river at “Nithraid”. If you haven’t though, here is a reminder of how the river below the caul can be enjoyed.

Cluaran were on dry land most of the time, working with The Whithorn Trust. (We gave people an in depth encounter with our wooden clinker built boat as well as working with an Archaeologist, and giving her a chance to row).
